An emergency call can bring trained medical help to people in the Ettington area within minutes, thanks to the area’s team of community first responders.

They are trained volunteers who get to a patient quickly while the professional ambulance crew is on its way.

In 2011, the seven first responders dealt with 183 medical emergencies – often cases where rapid treatment could significantly improve survival chances.

Ettington Community First Responders is one of the most dynamic groups in the area. As well as the people providing hands-on treatment, there is a back-up team of organisers and fund-raisers.

The group has even bought its own ambulance, often to be seen at community events.
